Let’s Play Video Games will be closing down in the near future.

The reasons for this decision are numerous, but pretty simple: we don’t have the time or resources necessary to take LPVG to where we want it to be. We started the site with the intention of being a personal, off-beat take on games writing, and we feel we’ve succeeded with that. But between work, personal lives, and health problems, it’s been difficult to keep LPVG as active as it has been, and we feel it would be better to call a definitive end to it than let it wither and die.

We do not, as of yet, have a specific date for the closure. Vikki is in charge of the hosting and all things technical, and so it is entirely up to her what happens with the site. However, we have already reverted the Patreon account to a Patron-only profile, meaning any ongoing pledges for it have been cancelled. Although, this is Patreon – the least predictable service ever devised – we’re talking about, so if you are a pledger, please double-check.

Both myself and Vikki want to thank everybody who has been a part of this fabulous community for the past two years, be it through reading, pledging on Patreon, chatting in the Discord, listening to the Podcast, or even sending us support on Twitter. The site couldn’t have gone on as long as it has without you.

We are not shutting down the Discord server. That will remain as the close-knit community it has always been, and while it will no longer be attached to a site, we hope you’ll pop-in and say hello! We’d like to take this opportunity to give an ultra-special thank you to the moderators, who have been a vital part in making the server the welcoming, safe place it is.

If you’d like to follow our work going forwards, you can follow Vikki on Twitter @_vixx, or check out her other sites, GGS Gamer and Silent Hill Heaven. If you’d like to follow me on Twitter, it’s @JoeParlock, or check out my personal site at joeparlock.com.

Thank you very much for the journey LPVG has been on the last two years. We’re proud of it, and we’re excited to see where we go next. Hopefully you’ll be there with us.

Joe is LPVG’s resident hardware nerd. If it’s overpriced and has gaudy RGB lighting, he’s probably drooling over it. He loves platformers, MMOs, RPGs, hack ‘n slashers and FPS, with his favourite games being Mirror’s Edge, Left 4 Dead, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Oblivion and Dead Space. Don’t ask him about his unhealthily large Monsters Inc memorabilia collection. Seriously, just don’t ask…
