Let’s Play Video Games was formed over a year ago now with the aim of keeping the three of us – me, Vikki and Laura – together following the dissolution of Destructoid UK. For a year we’ve been chugging along with reviews, reports, and of course those delicious shitposts.

And now, it’s time for things to change.

On Monday, August 5th, co-founder Laura Dale will be starting a new job. It’s an exciting step forward for her, but with it comes a few necessary change – primarily, she will be stepping back from Let’s Play Video Games to focus more on her new role. This includes no longer being a major contributor to the site (although she may return once in a while depending on availability), and no longer being a co-host of the Let’s Play Video Games Podcast.

Laura also must shut down her Patreon campaign, due to potential conflicts of interest in her new position. However, this campaign has also, up to now, been funding Let’s Play Video Game through your wonderful support. Hosting, event and review copy cover, and of course all three of our salaries have been funded through this.

However, this does not mean Let’s Play Video Games is coming to a close. Far from it. Me and Vikki will be redoubling our efforts with the site, and will in due time be releasing a new Patreon campaign to help cover everything we’ve been able to do up to now. We’ll be sharing that as soon as we are able to (I have had some serious medical problems the last month, which means we won’t be able to launch it as soon as we’d like), so be sure to keep an eye out!

The podcast, as you know it, will unfortunately be coming to an end. Laura was an integral part of that format, and so it would feel weird for all three of us to continue as if nothing had changed. There are plans for more audio and video stuff from me and Vikki though, including potentially a new, slightly different podcast later down the line.

We wish Laura all the best at her new job, we know that she will absolutely kill it. We also hope that you’ll stick around to see where Let’s Play Video Games goes from here, because this site has always been a thing because of your brilliant support.

Anyway, back to the shitposting.

Joe is LPVG’s resident hardware nerd. If it’s overpriced and has gaudy RGB lighting, he’s probably drooling over it. He loves platformers, MMOs, RPGs, hack ‘n slashers and FPS, with his favourite games being Mirror’s Edge, Left 4 Dead, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Oblivion and Dead Space. Don’t ask him about his unhealthily large Monsters Inc memorabilia collection. Seriously, just don’t ask…
