Capcom may be working on another Resident Evil game.

In an interview with Stevivor (thanks, VG24/7), Resident Evil 7 director Koshi Nakanishi and Resident Evil: Revelations 2 director Yasuhiro Anpo dropped some teasers about their current projects.

The interview itself dates back in March of this year, so it’s not new per se, but given the interview followed the release of Resident Evil 7, could the pair be alluding to an all-new RE title?

“By creating a pillar that says ‘Resident Evil is a scary game’, we’ve also managed to make it easier to develop/iterate on other elements of Resident Evil as well,” said Nakanishi, talking about RE7.

“Also, there are many creators at Capcom, including myself, who love Resident Evil, and Anpo-san has something worthy praise that’s in development as well.”

“I can’t announce anything yet, but as of now, I’ve been developing a certain product,” Anpo replied. “Please look forward to it.”

Okay, so the idea of Capcom revisiting the horror franchise might not be surprising news – especially after the critically-acclaimed seventh instalment took the series back to it’s survival horror origins – and its possible they’re just talking about RE7 DLC. But hey, it’s good to know there’s “creators at Capcom” who love Resi as much as we do, right? So: yeah, Anpo – we’re looking forward to it!

In our Resident Evil 7 review, we gave it a 90, saying: “Resident Evil 7 is essentially a pitch-perfect example of a title that’s unafraid to learn from the past, whilst also open to freely experiment with contemporary horror techniques. This makes RE7 not just one of the best horror games of recent times; it might be one of the best you’ll ever play. Period.”

Short. Sweary. Sarky. Streamer. Spartan. Story-driven games make me happiest. Spectacularly bad at shooters, but loves them. Screams a lot playing horror games, but loves those, too.
