Imagine it: you get in from a long trip across the world, catching every single one of the pokemon available in Pokemon Go. You sit down in your comfy chair, proud in the knowledge you have all 145 non-legendary (and Ditto) pokemon, knowing your journey is finally over.
And then you hear the news today that the Johto Pokedex is making its way over sooner than we may have thought.
According to a report by The Silph Road (via EuroGamer), the next 100 pokemon have been found within the v0.45.0 Android .apk file of the game. This includes everything from Chikorita to Celebi, including the legendries Entei, Raikou, Suicune, Lugia, and Ho-oh. It also includes my personal favourite, Ursaring!
Alongside the second generation, Ditto and its signature move transform have also been found in the files. Weirdly, transform hasn’t been allocated to Ditto, but they both exist independently.
The files also include preliminary code for things we already knew were coming, like the upcoming daily quest system.
This does not mean you can go out and find a Sentret wandering around your garden yet, though. The game needs both client-side (which this is) and server-side updates before they can be applied, and we don’t know when that will be happening. It could be months before Niantic push the update, but at least we know work has begun on bringing the Gold/Silver/Crystal monsters.
