To celebrate its 30th anniversary, Ubisoft has been dishing out free games each month through its Uplay platform. The games have been pretty dang great, with stuff like Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Rayman Origins and The Crew being available.

October’s game has been announced via Twitter, and it’s the 2003 cult hit Beyond Good & Evil. Or as we like to call it, “That Game Laura Will Never Get A Sequel To But We Don’t Have The Heart To Break It To Her.” It’ll be available from October 12 for one whole month, and if you get it during that time it’s yours to keep forever.

It’s interesting that Beyond Good & Evil is going to be free next month, as various teases and hints at a long-awaited sequel being in development have been trickling out over the last few weeks. Various bits of concept art have been popping up, building up to creator Michel Ancel confirming the game is in pre-development via Instagram. Whether it’ll actually ever see the light of day this time is anybody’s guess.

To get the game, you’ll just need to log into Uplay from October 12 and click the big “Ubi 30” label at the top of the screen. If you still don’t have The Crew, you’ve got a week left to nab it.

Joe is LPVG’s resident hardware nerd. If it’s overpriced and has gaudy RGB lighting, he’s probably drooling over it. He loves platformers, MMOs, RPGs, hack ‘n slashers and FPS, with his favourite games being Mirror’s Edge, Left 4 Dead, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Oblivion and Dead Space. Don’t ask him about his unhealthily large Monsters Inc memorabilia collection. Seriously, just don’t ask…
