The vast majority of the Kingdom Hearts series is making its way to the PlayStation 4, as Square Enix has announced via Twitter that Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX will be launching on March 28 (or March 31 if you’re in Europe).

Assuming the contents are the same as the PS3 counterparts, the compilation will include:

  • Kingdom Hearts Final Mix
  • Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories
  • Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days (the cutscenes as a film)
  • Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix
  • Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix
  • Kingdom Hearts Re:coded (the cutscenes as a film)

Together with the upcoming HD 2.5 Final Chapter Prologue compilation releasing in January (which includes Dream Drop Distance HD, 0.2 Birth by Sleep ~ A Fragmentary Passage and X Back Cover), this means that just about everything you need to be ready for Kingdom Hearts 3 will be available on the same platform for the first time.

Of course, we don’t have any release date for Kingdom Hearts 3. We were given a couple of new screenshots showing off a new drive form, known as the Guard Form, so at least that’s something.

I love Kingdom Hearts, and I bought my PS3 specifically for the HD re-releases. I’m more than happy to clatter some Heartless on PS4 though!

Joe is LPVG’s resident hardware nerd. If it’s overpriced and has gaudy RGB lighting, he’s probably drooling over it. He loves platformers, MMOs, RPGs, hack ‘n slashers and FPS, with his favourite games being Mirror’s Edge, Left 4 Dead, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Oblivion and Dead Space. Don’t ask him about his unhealthily large Monsters Inc memorabilia collection. Seriously, just don’t ask…
