The Nintendo NX will be portable and have detachable controllers.
According to a report by Eurogamer, the NX can be connected to your TV as per standard consoles, but also doubles as a “high-powered handheld console” with its own display, and the screen can be “bookended by two controller sections on either side, which can be attached or detached as required”. The “brain” of the system is thought to be within the controller itself.
It’s reported that the NX will use game cartridges to load data, which adds fuel to the speculation that Nintendo intends to utilise 32 GB cards for its games.
Sources tell Eurogamer that there are no plans for backwards compatibility.
Zelda: Breath of the Wild remains the only first-party game confirmed for the NX to date.
