Rainbow Six Siege’s third expansion, Operation Skull Rain, is coming on August 2, 2016.

Season Pass holders will have seven days exclusivity with two new characters from Brazil’s Batalhão de Operações Policiais Especiais (BOPE), Caveira and Capitão.

“Caveira is the defensive Operator of the two,” states Ubisoft. “As such, she possesses the “Silent Step” skill that enables her to sneak up on enemies to immobilize and then interrogate them to reveal their teammates’ location. Her arsenal includes an M12 and SPAS-15 for primary weapons, a PRB92 as a secondary, and Nitro Cell C4 and Barbed Wire for gadgets.”

“As the attacker, Capitão carries a tactical crossbow that can fire asphyxiating bolts that burn oxygen within a certain radius, as well as micro smoke grenades that can mask positions and team movements. Capitão also has an M-249 and PARA-308 for primary weapon options, a PRB92 for secondary, and frag and stun grenades rounding out his available arsenal.”

All players will be able to access a new map – “Rainbow Six Siege’s most destructible map to date” – set in a Brazillian favela. Ubisoft has also confirmed other tweaks to the gameplay including a Tactical Realism custom mode that permits only the timer, compass, gadget, and weapon panels to be visible in the HUD, pushing players to “rely even more on their teammates and communication for information on enemy locations and kill counts”.

There’s also a new surrender mechanic for ranked games (but you can only do so before the third round), and a new angled grip to improve hip-fire to scope-sight/ADS transition.

This is the third expansion to hit Rainbow Six Siege. Rainbow Six Siege update Operation Dust Line released in May, while Operation Black Ice DLC came out last February.

Rainbow Six Siege is available on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.

Short. Sweary. Sarky. Streamer. Spartan. Story-driven games make me happiest. Spectacularly bad at shooters, but loves them. Screams a lot playing horror games, but loves those, too.
